This Is Exactly Why People With Diabetes Should Eat Mangoes Everyday
Mangoes are one of the most popular and healthiest fruit in the world. Besides tasting nice, mangoes offer a variety of health benefits including the treatment and prevention of diabetes.
According to experts, consuming mangoes can lower your blood sugar levels even though they do contain a hefty amount of natural sugar.
Recently, scientists from the American Societies for Experimental Biology conducted a study to see just how powerful mangoes are.
They gave 10 gr. of frozen mango to obese rats every day for 3 months. After 12 weeks, the results showed that the rats that ate mango every day has significantly lower glucose levels than the other group.
“Although we’re not quite sure what mechanism reduces the blood sugar levels, the study showed that mangoes do work against diabetes,” Dr. Edralin Lucas, the author of the study says.
Another study from the Oklahoma State University discovered that mangoes can reduce the insulin resistance in the body and improve the cells’ tolerance to glucose.
The study was done on mice and had similar results to the aforementioned study. One Australian study discovered the same, and also found that mangoes can reduce cholesterol and prevent diseases related to metabolic syndrome.
The scientists are still unsure of how everything works, but they all agree that mangoes contain special compounds that can either activate or inhibit the function of certain receptors, which could prove to be useful in cases of diabetes and high cholesterol levels.
